Congratulations to Dr. Sepehr Honarparvar on Successfully Defending His PhD!

We are proud to celebrate Dr. Sepehr Honarparvar, who successfully defended his PhD on November 13, 2025, in the Department of Geomatics Engineering, University of Calgary.

Dr. Honarparvar’s doctoral research focused on developing advanced frameworks for real-time complex event detection in large-scale video and IoT networks. His work integrated computer vision, GeoAI, and cloud–edge computing to enable scalable, cost-efficient, and accurate detection of complex spatiotemporal events across distributed camera and sensor systems. His contributions advanced the state of the art in multi-camera coordination, trajectory enhancement, and knowledge graph–driven event reasoning, laying the groundwork for next-generation smart city and intelligent surveillance applications.

We congratulate Dr. Honarparvar on this outstanding achievement and look forward to his continued contributions to event-based IoT architectures, GeoAI, and intelligent video analytics.
